Within the scope of Law No. 7524 on Amendments to Tax Laws and Certain Laws, which entered into force upon publication in the Official Gazette dated August 2, 2024 and numbered 32620, significant changes were made to social security legislation. Here are the notable regulations:

1. Increasing the Premium Rate of Short-Term Insurance Branches:

  • The premium rate for short-term insurance branches has been increased from 2% of the insured's premium-based earnings to 2.25%.
  • The President has been given the authority to reduce this rate to 1.5% or increase it to 2.5%.
  • This regulation will enter into force on September 1, 2024.

2. Increasing the Minimum Pension:

  • The minimum amount of monthly payments from disability and old-age insurance has been increased from 10,000 TL to 12,500 TL.
  • The regulation entered into force on August 2, 2024, to be applied as of the payment period of July 2024.

3. Removal of 5 Point SGDP Premium Incentive:

  • Treasury support for the 5-point portion of the SGDP employer share of those who are subject to social security support premiums and work in private sector workplaces has been abolished.
  • This regulation will also enter into force on September 1, 2024.
